FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Feel free to give us a call for any additional questions or concerns you may have!

  • I am a new client, where do I start?

Thank you for choosing Willow Creek Ranch for your pet's boarding/daycare/grooming needs!

For boarding and daycare, the first thing that needs to be done is a temperament test, which is a 2-hour evaluation period to ensure your dog gets along well with other dogs and our staff. ($30 per dog) You can call us at 832-884-6122 to schedule the temperment test. Please ensure your pet is current on Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, and has a collar on with an ID tag. Once the temperment test is done, your pet will be registered in our system and will be able to come to our facility for any future boarding or daycare needs!

For grooming, we not not require a temperament test to be done, but do highly recommend it. Please give us a call at 832-884-6122 to schedule your grooming appointment. Your pet must be current on Rabies, DHPP, Bordetella, and have a collar on with an ID tag. When calling to schedule, we may ask for specific notes on the grooming such as haircut length, style of groom, etc, so please have an idea of what you are wanting in mind!

We hope to see you soon!

  • What type of rooms are the dogs kept in?

We place dogs in rooms with a few other dogs with matching temperaments and age. Our rooms have air conditioning, 24/7 access to water, and beds.

Each room is a different size, but we are able to fill rooms with a different number of dogs based on how large the room is.

  • How often are the dogs let outside?

Your dog will be rotated outside with their room all throughout the day. Your dog will stay with his/her select group of friends (we do not combine every one in one park). They will get time to play outside in our fenced parks with real grass (no turf or fake grass). Play time is dependent on weather. Ex: We will shorten play time if it is hot, but it will be more frequent. We will lengthen play time when the weather is cooler.

  • What should I bring for boarding?

Please bring updated shot records, food for your dog throughout the stay, and of course your dog! You may bring food in individual bags, a labeled bag, or a food container/bin.

You can of course bring any treats or medication for your pet throughout the stay.

We would prefer if you would not bring any beds or blankets because we already provide these items to your pet and there is no guarantee that they will be returned. Additionally, we do not allow toys to be given to dogs throughout the stay to prevent toy aggression between the dogs.

  • What is the policy for boarding-rates?

Our pet boarding is charged based on each invididual calendar day. We do not charge nightly fees, and instead we charge by the day. We recommend that you drop off your pet as earliest in the day as possible to let them have more playtime out of their day of boarding.

Additonally, a "new" day starts at 8am. You have the option of picking up your pet before 8am without being charged an additional day of boarding.

  • What is a peak season date?

All Boardings During Klein ISD Holidays will incur a $5.00 added charge per day of boarding. This is due to a high influx of dogs and the need for increased staffing during these times.

The Following Dates will be recognized for Peak Season:

    February 10-18 2024 (Winter Break)

    March 9-17 2024 (Spring Break)

    March 29-31 2024 (Easter Weekend)

    May 25- Aug 13 2024 (Summer)

Aug 31- Sep 2 2024 (Labor Day Weekend)

    Oct 12-20 2024 (Fall Break)

    Nov 23- Dec 1 2024 (Thanksigivng Break)

    Dec 21 2024- Jan 7 2025 (Christmas Break)

  • Do all dogs have to be temperament tested?

Yes, all dogs in our facility must be temperament tested prior to a boarding stay. This is a two-hour period where we get a feel for how your dog acts around others as well as around our employees. This allows us to become familiar with your dog before they come for their boarding stay.  This is very good for dogs to get more familiar with a new environment and being around other dogs. Your pet must pass the temperment test in order to board or participate in daycare at our facility.

Temperament testing costs $30 for the evaluation.

  • When do I need to pick up my dog?

We are open every day from 7am to 7pm, however all pets must be dropped off before 6pm, to avoid a $20 fee per dog.  The only days we are closed to customers throughout the year are Christmas and Thanksgiving day (We still have staff to take care of our boarding pets).

We charge boarding prices by calendar day. So, if you pick your dog up before 8am, you are not charged for the day.

  • Can I come for a tour?

Yes, you can come for a tour. Please call to let us know you are coming. When coming in for a temperament test, we are happy to give you a tour!

  • Do you accommodate medication or complicated diets?

Yes, any medication your pet needs can be given throughout the stay for no additional cost. Medication is given by our managers at times throughout the day directed by feeding instructions left by the owner.

We can accommodate any diet your pet needs whether that is dry food, wet food, raw, or additional feedings throughout the day. We typically feed twice a day at around 7am and 4pm, but can feed more or less based on each dog's individual needs.

  • What do the dogs do at night?

Dogs sleep together in their room overnight with the same friends they had throughout the day. By the time night comes, they are so tired that the majority of the dogs sleep throughout the night with no problems. By staying with the same friends they had all day long, we can make sure that everyone gets along before leaving for the night!

During the nights, we do not have any employees working on-site. However, the owner does live on-site and we have adequate security systems to treat any emergency.

  • Can we request a private room?

This question is tricky. We prefer for all of our dogs to have friends because it helps with anxiety as well as lets the dogs have friends throughout their stay to have fun. However, we can accommodate own rooms on a case-by-case basis. These requests must be booked far in advance because we have extremely limited space.

Pricing for a private room is $70 per calendar day of boarding regardless of size.

  • What does a bath include? Are there additional spa services you offer?

Baths can be given on a walk-in basis as well as at the end of a boarding stay before they leave. Pricing goes as follows:

    0-35lbs- $40

    36-50 lbs- $45

    51-80lbs- $50

    81-100lbs- $55

    101+lbs- $60

The bath price includes the bath with two shampoos and a conditioner, blow-dry with our high-velocity dryer, nail trim, and an ear clean.

We offer many ancillary services available by request.

    • Sani Trim- $10
    • Face Trim - $5
    • Feet Trim- $10
    • Sani, Face, and Feet Trim- $20
    • Nail Trimming- $10
    • Nail Grind/Dremel- $15
    • Brushing Teeth- $5
    • Anal Gland Expression- $10
    • De- Flea Treatment- $5 (in addition to bath)
    • Nail Painting- $10

  • How much does grooming cost?

Grooming prices are based on the size of the dog, haircut, breed, matting, etc. We cannot give definitive prices until the groom is completed. You can call us to receive an estimated quote.

  • What happens if my dog's vaccinations are expired?

In order to board, attend doggie daycare, or grooming, your dog must be current on Bordetella, Rabies, and Distemper Parvo (DHPP). There are no exceptions to this rule unless medically exempt by a veterinarian. Vaccination records can be sent to us via email, or brought on paper copy while dropping off. We  cannot allow any pet in our facility without the proper vaccinations for the safety of your pet, and the other pets we are taking care of.

The only vaccination we offer in-house is Bordetella, which lasts 6 months. This is a oral vaccination that costs $22.

  • Is there a vet on site?

No, there is not a vet onsite. However, we work very closely with Northwest Animal Hospital. We use this veterinarian for any emergencies that may arise.

  • I need to cancel or revise the dates on my boarding stay, will I be charged a fee?

No, you will not be charged a fee for shortening/lenghtening a boarding stay for your pet. Please call us and communicate these changes.

Additionally, we do not charge a cancellation fee unless it is during a holiday. In this instance, you would not be refunded the $50 non-refundable/non-transferable deposit you paid when you booked the reservation.

  • Can I receive an update on how my dog is doing during their stay?

Yes, we are happy to provide updates on how your dog is behaving, eating, interacting with friends, etc. Please give us a call, text, or email, and we can provide updates and pictures.

Note: We get very busy especially during holidays and weekends. Please allow 1-2 hours for a response as we are busy caring for your pets!

Additionally, we post daily on our Instagram, and occasionally Facebook. You may be able to find your dog on our social media!

  • Can I board my cat or small animal?

Yes, you may board your cat or rabbit for $25 a day. Additionally, you can board any small animals (bird, guinea pig, hamster, reptiles, and we've even had a potbelly pig!). For small animals, the boarding cost is $15 per calendar day.

Your cat will have their own private room with a bed, toys, water, blankets, etc, and will recieve LOTS of attention.

Small animal care varies but most owners bring the cage/setup from home, and we will let your pet hang out in our office. Many clients will bring the bird cage/reptile enclosure, and give specific instructions regarding feeding and/or cleaning care.

  • Where do the dogs play when it's raining?

We have a covered deck outside for your dogs to potty, and enjoy their outside time when it is raining. Additionally, we have a large multipurpose room on site we use to let the dogs get out their energy when it is raining. Once the weather has cleared, your dog will be able to return to normal playtime in the grass parks.

  • Do you accept dogs that are not fixed?

For males, we require that all dogs are neutered by the age of 7 months. After this date, your dog will not be allowed to come for boarding or daycare until fixed. We also require a 6-8 week healing period for males after neutering. However, after the age of 7 months, we do offer Private Suites where your pet can stay in their own room for $70/day regardless of weight. Daycare pricing remains $35/day.

For females, we accept unspayed females on a case-by-case basis, and dogs may not board/attend daycare while in heat unless approved. If your dog goes into heat during their boarding stay, they will be moved to a private suite and the price per day will increase to $70/day. As long as they are not in heat, we are likely able to find them other girl friends to play with. Give us a call to explain your situation and we will be happy to help and answer any questions!
